Plan of measures to hand over container terminal under Modul LLC control approved

Interterminal group of companies, Modul carriage and forwarding company and Predportovyi cargo terminal have announced they had agree that in trilateral negotiations on a plan of measures to hand over the container terminal situated in the production and warehousing area of  Severo-Zapadnyi TechnoPark LLC at 75 Kubinskaya Ulitsa, Bld. 1, to Modul LLC control. Predportovyi cargo terminal which has so far operated the container terminal in question could not resist the attractive financial proposal and decided to terminate its work and cancel the lease contract. In accordance with the agreement, Modul LLC will start operating the terminal on 7 December, 2006.

 

The agreement between Interterminal group of companies and Modul carriage and forwarding company on the joint operation of Russia’s largest internal (domestic) container terminal in the south of St. Petersburg in Predportovaya-1 industrial zone, Predportovaya basic railway station (Oktyabrskaya Railway), was reached in the end of October in this year.  Predportovyi Cargo Terminal LLC is now completing its operations of receiving and handling cargoes in connection with the handover of the terminal to the new operator’s control.

 

The container terminal of the total area 33,255 sq.m and the capacity 2,500–4,000 TEUs is situated in North-West Russia’s first class A multi-function transport and logistics complex which is now being built and will be operated by  Interterminal-Predportovyi LLC. The construction of the complex ordered by  Severo-Zapadnyi TechnoPark LLC is close to completion. The total warehousing area is 18.4 hectares. The class A warehousing area after the construction completion will be 68,900 sq.m.

 

Interterminal group of companies includes North-West Russia’s largest transport and logistics centers of classes A and B+. Besides the complex at 75 Kubinskaya Ulitsa, Bld. 1, the group has already implemented the upgraded transport and logistics complex in the Parnas industrial zone in the north of St. Petersburg. The total area of the refrigerator, heated and unheated warehouses in the complex is 49,970 sq.m, the capacity is 59,500 europallets.

 

Modul carriage and forwarding company is one of the largest operators in the Russian market of transport services. The company has been engaged in this business since 1992, providing an entire selection of carriage and forwarding services in international and domestic transportation: organization of carriage by sea, railway, road and multi-modal carriage, and organization of terminal operations in sea ports of St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Muugi, Novorossiysk and Astrakhan. Modul LLC has among its assets its own railway container terminal at the Varshavskaya station in St. Petersburg. The company’s annual container turnover is 170,000 TEUs. Modul LLC also has its own truck transportation arm which carries out the bulk of the company’s road carriages.

 

Predportovyi Cargo Terminal LLC was founded in 2005. Over the period of its work in the market of container cargo handling, the company has distinguished itself as a stable reliable partner and made contracts with the key container owners represented in St. Petersburg. Predportovyi cargo terminal offers a wide selection of services of storing and handling container cargoes including the transportation to various regions of the Russian Federation and transshipment of cargoes in connection with the change of transport means. The company’s cargo turnover per month is up to 1,100 containers dispatched by railway, 1,500 empty containers accepted and released kept at the terminal and 350 operations of cargo handling and loading into containers. Predportovyi cargo terminal has now decided to shift all of its capacities to another terminal.
